Acceptable Use Policy
|
 |
| Below is the text of our "Acceptable Use Policy"
with regards to the hosting services we provide our customers. |
 |
| The Internet is a voluntary association of users interested
in and willing to exchange information and data with other Internet users. The Client is
expected to have a basic knowledge of how the Internet functions, the types of use which
are generally accepted, and the types of use which are to be avoided. In order to
facilitate their contractual relationship, the Client and PTLC wish to define a working
protocol of principles and policies, and to establish operating guidelines and acceptable
standards of Internet use.
To this end the parties agree that the Internet is a network intended for use by
mature, adult users. The Client recognizes this principle and will undertake at all times
to act with respect, courtesy, and responsibility, giving due regard to the interests and
rights of other Internet users.
This general guideline includes the following specific responsibilities, violation of
which will result in immediate termination of this Agreement:
- COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS. This service may be used only for lawful purposes.
Transmission of any material in violation of any foreign, municipal, state, county, or
federal statute or regulation is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, those
principles of law which protect against compromise of copyrights, trade secrets,
proprietary information and other intellectual property rights, libel or defamation of
character, invasion of privacy, tortuous interference, and export of technical or military
data to prohibited countries.
- SITE CONTENT. Pornography or any merchandising related to sexual content is
prohibited on any PTLC server. This includes sites that may infer sexual content, or may
link to adult content elsewhere. This is also true for sites that promote any illegal
activity or content that may be damaging to PTLC servers or any other server on the
Internet. Links to such materials are also prohibited. PTLC reserves the right to
determine what constitutes acceptable site content.
- IMPROPER USES. Net abuse is prohibited and will result in immediate termination
of service. This includes, but is not limited to, activities such as using a non-existent
email return address on a commercial solicitation, spamming (sending unsolicited
advertising to numerous email addresses or newsgroups), trolling (posting outrageous
messages to generate numerous responses), mailbombing (sending multiple messages without
significant new content to the same user), subscribing someone else to a mailing list
without that persons permission, cross-posting articles to an excessive number of
newsgroups, or attempting without authorization to enter into a secured computer system.
PTLC reserves the right to determine what constitutes net abuse.
- SECURITY. The Client is required to protect the security of its Web Site account
and usage. The Clients password will be treated as private and confidential
information and will not be disclosed to or shared with any third party without express
written permission from PTLC.
- BACKGROUND AND RUNNING PROGRAMS. We "may" allow programs to run
continually in the background. These are considered on an individual basis and an extra
charge will be incurred based on system resources used and operational maintenance
required. Otherwise, misuse of system resources, including but not limited to, employing
posts or programs which consume excessive CPU time or storage space, permitting use of
mail services, mail forwarding capabilities, POP accounts, or autoresponders other than
for the Clients own account, or resale of access to scripts installed on PTLC
servers is prohibited.
- SERVER ABUSE. Any attempts to undermine or cause harm to any PTLC server or any
other server on the Internet is strictly prohibited.
