The original objective for the Petry-Kuhne web
site was to showcase some of their previous construction projects. The web provided an
easy method of creating a portfolio of some of their most outstanding achievements and
sharing them with prospective clients and others in the industry. However, Petry-Kuhne
acknowledges the value of the web beyond simple advertising and marketing. They already
have plans to integrate the web into several areas of their normal business processes.
One of these plans is to create a protected area of their web site where owners of
current projects can review current status reports, scheduling, and other pertinent
information. The dynamic nature of the web will allow Petry-Kuhne to publish status
information as often as necessary to insure that the owners are kept informed.
Another plan is to create another protected area for more interaction with their
subcontractors, either in the bid status of a job or in the actual construction process.
Communication has always had a positive result on any project, and the web is a natural
mechanism to facilitate this process.
